To install them, the material is first countersunk or dimpled so that the rivet head nests flush with the skin. Using a rivet gun or squeezer, the tail is then driven to form a locking head on the opposite side.

Huck Rivets

Huck rivets are true lockbolt fasteners that employ a swaged collar over a grooved pin, presenting a significantly more secure and vibration-resistant hold than conventional rivets or bolts in cyclic loading environments. Installation requires a specialized hydraulic or pneumatic Huck installation tool equipped with a pulling head, which grips the pintail of the pin and draws it through the collar while simultaneously compressing the collar permanently into the pin’s grooves. Once the correct clamp load is achieved, the pintail fractures off and completes the joint.
